The Tau Kappa Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho takes appreciation of its members while and after graduating from UWA, We are dedicated to enhance the quality of life of our members, and the communities we serve. We love to get to know prospective members and individuals in our community well. The chapter always show support to the current members, alumnae, and Sorors from all over.
Scholarship
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and members of the Tau Kappa Chapter holds a high principle of scholarship. We believe in the quote “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.“ Tau Kappa has obtained various awards of excellence, including Sorority with the highest GPA and the highest GPA in the Southeastern Region of the sorority. Members of the chapter are in various honor societies such as Blue Key Honor Society, Phi Eta Sigma, Phi Kappa Phi, and Kappa Delta Pi.
Service
Sorors of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc believe and demonstrate the sorority's slogan, "Greater Service, Greater Progress." Members of the Tau Kappa chapter complete many community service projects throughout the sorority year. UWA Campus School, Sumter County Schools, Well House, and the Sumter County Department of Human Resources are several places we have served our community as a chapter or with various organizations. We have completed various national and regional programs in the community such as Operation BigBookBag, Project Reassurance, Hattie McDaniel Breast Cancer Awareness, March of Dimes, and St. Jude. Members of Tau Kappa are active in other community organizations such as UWA Ambassadors, UWA Housing, The Scarlet Band, Student Support Services, Student Government Association, Phi Boota Roota, Alpha Phi Omega, mentors, tutors, and so much more.
